The Foundary believes in supporting dancers in Brisbane. It’s vision is to create a hub of dance here in Brisbane through providing a wider range of trainers and choreographers to adult dancers wanting to push themselves in dance. It’s core values of love, support and commitment permeates through everything it does.

The Foundary was created in 2009 for one purpose, to support dancers. Its mission is to create a foundation for all dancers across the globe to help them further their career.

It’s an independent dance company aiming to support the dance movement through all its services. Support and encouragement are its core values and will echo these throughout its delivery.

The foundation will provide dancers with:

Opportunities to award financial sponsorship;

Dance portfolio including resume building, video compilations, photo shoots;

Assistance with international visa applications;

Marketing and promotion;

Health & mindset;

Agency work when available.

The Foundary will continue to provide internationally acclaimed dance choreographers to Australia when the opportunity arises. It believes in pushing the boundaries and wants to push the level of training for dancers with the support of everyone in the industry. As long as dancers are benefiting, I will provide as much as I can to the dance community!

We’ve all recently felt the effects from the latest market recession where Consumer Confidence was at an all-time low and where potential clients looking to get a website turned into their own business to concentrate on their revenue expenditure just to break-even.

While Manager’s and Middle Men within a Company structure cut costs to minimize expenses, and employment becomes more about “Salaries” and “Costs” rather than “Skill/Experience” level, a turn around in the industry began to evolve. This has been happening for quite some time and possibly more evident now than in the past.

One thing in particular that you as a “Consumer” need to look out for when getting a website from Web Design Firm/Company is who exactly are you paying for? Are you directly paying the Designer, Programmer, or Graphic Design costs? Or are you really paying for the Middle Manager, Sales Consultant or Project Managers wage. The problem with the industry at the moment is that you just might be paying for the Manager’s or the Sales Person’s time rather than the person that actually performs the task.

This can lead to a few problems:

Communication break down that separates the client from the individual performing the task. Therefore a tasks needs and requirements can get “Lost in Translation.”

Lack of Skill, since the Manager dictating the roles of the task may not be a specialist in that field but rather a specialist in Sales and Marketing.

Increase in Costs, as you’re paying for 2-3 people to perform tasks that one person can perform. This can lead to a few hundred, to thousands at an extent.

Do you know if it’s a professional that you’re paying for or a Trainee, Apprentice or New Graduate performing the tasks at the same price that you would be paying a highly experienced staff member?

The most misleading part is when a Web Design firm extends their “Staff Tree” to potential clients to show a large established organisation when in essence a few of the staff members could be graduates or trainees.

When looking into getting a website be sure that you’re paying for what you’re after and individuals that passionate about their craft. You’ll know them when you meet them directly face to face or when you speak to them. They’re more than likely to be the individuals that don’t push Sales just for the $ factor but push the capabilities of how they can help you grow.

If you don’t you could be paying more for the Manager’s fortune than your own.

Working on the previous years Utopian Dream festival I was once again commissioned to work on the festivals 2nd instalment. The festival once again saw international and nationally renowned leading dancers to Coffs Harbour. The festival exclusively featured tWitch directly from the USA, who was a runner up finalist of Season 4’s “So You Think You Can Dance” number 1 TV hit show.

For this years branding we went with a more “Worn Out – Organic”. This was highly influenced by traditional aboriginal culture, which relies on inspirations from the Earth and Environment.

The posters maintained a continuity of having an “Old Paper” sort of feel with the wood grain like textures implemented through the branding of the website.

The branding has been promoted throughout a nationwide audience and has also received high acclaim from dancers/choreographers based overseas. The branding involved a strong push through the target market in Social Networks and Print advertising throughout Dance related venues across Australia.

The designs were also featured in the North Coast NSW publication “The Advocate” - Newspaper.

Starting off on a new venture is one of the most exciting elements of business. The prospect of controlling your own identity, the risk involved, the knowledge that gain, and the prospect of unlimited growth. With all of these elements in mind Gold Coast based Acupuncturist David Haynes has begun his journey. To begin branding his business, Haynes required an identity that reflected him as a person along with his services in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The design of the card coincides with the Chinese theme, which have been expressed with the Bamboo shoots. The business cards also provide Haynes with the ability to write booking times on the back to give to clients as a reminding feature. The business cards have provided Haynes a professional form of marketing that instills confidence in him representing his business to prospective clients and networking opportunities.

To coincide with the new year, Travers Ross the director of the Utopian Dream wanted a re-brand of the Utopian Dream festival. This year we created a more earth and natural solution towards the festival branding. This branding coincided with all of the online and print media.

Highly influenced by natural organic forms, Traver Ross wanted to create a theme based on nature and of the Earth’s elements, which have been depicted throughout the site.

This years 2010 festival, again showcased some of Australia’s leading dance talent such as ALive Entertainment (SYTYCD Top 20), Tiana, Csaba (Dancing With The Stars), Fabio (SYTYCD Choreographer), and Lamb (SYTYCD Top 20). It also brought over Internationally renowned dancer tWitch, who was a finalist of Season 4 SYTYCD in the US.

My self project that I created as a pure hobby due to my passion and love of both basketball and shoes.

Working for 5 years with Nike Australia in retail at Nike Harbour Town enabled me to understand my the technicalities behind the research and development of shoes. It provided me an understanding of the Air technologies, the materials used and the reasons as to why which I had always been fascinated about.

During my work in the industry I always wanted to make a site dedicated to my knowledge of shoes, to encourage since I’m always researching my favourite players such as Jordan, LeBron, and Kobe. This provided me a platform to do so to know their inspirations behind the design and development of their projects.
