Bahia Alegria
Bahia Alegria means “Happiness from Bahia” and that’s exactly what my classes are all about. Bahia is a state in the north-east sector of Brazil which has its very own unique style of music and dance – mostly influenced by its African Salve heritage and being regarded within Brazil as a sun-drenched, culturally rich, beach and party state.
The dance classes represent ‘Swing Bainao’ and ‘Lambaerobica’ that combine Brazilian dance from Bahia with aerobics and fitness and are very common in gyms all over Brazil. This style of dance is also danced for enjoyment on the beach, at parties, in the streets, nightclubs, living rooms – just about everywhere! The dances are choreographed to match the words of the song so each dance tells a storey. It’s a very joyful, fun and flirtatious dance – exotic, tropical and addictive!
